"The Guggle Room"

According to the Listed Building description, the property was formely the Horse and Groom public house and is thought to have been built in the mid 17th century. The room for which the house is famous is know as the Guggle Room. This is built entirely in Cotswold stone including a magnificent doomed ceiling. It is thought that the property was once owned by a stone mason, and the room formed a showroom of his skills.

The room also has evidence of its Public House history. Over the fieplace is a faded painting with the inscription "Meet friendly, drink heartily, part quietly" with a picture of a horse held by a groom above. The horse is said to be Coronation, a famous racehorse bred near Northleach. Below the inscription is another painting in which three men dressed in the fashion of the early 19th Century are playing a game of cards.
