This Grade II listed building that served as a Cart Barn for the ajoining mill was in an ideal location for a Holiday Cottage. Kent Construction worked closely with the owners to complete the conversion over a 6 month period.
The existing Cart barn was a shell and had a culvert running down its centre. Initial work was focused on the structural design, where we used our associate company Cotswold Structures to design the revised culvert, floor loading and support structure for the rear wall. Another associate company Cotswold Preservation then completed the timber and damp proofing ahead of the conversion to a two floor property.
The existing chicken shed at the front of the property was removed and replaced with a similar timber clad building with feature oak frame constructed by our specialist joiners.
In March 2007 the conversion featured in the Barns Special of Self Build and Design. English Tourist Board recently inspected the property and awarded it a 5 Star Holiday Cottage rating.
